Who are ‘Navigators’?
Navigators Group is a listed US specialist insurance company which has grown successfully over the last 30 years. Although the origins of the company come from a marine expertise, the Group has diversified over the last 20 years into a number of specialist non-marine sectors. Currently, the product mix is as varied as engineering and professional liability. The Group is ‘A’ rated by Standard and Poors and A.M. Best.
What has made Navigators so successful?
The success of the Group comes not from being all things to all people, but by understanding clients’ needs and offering tailored products and the highest level of customer. Each product area is supported by teams who have developed a deep understanding of their own area of expertise.
And what about the UK?
In the UK, Navigators operates as both a licensed insurance company and at Lloyd’s. The UK insurance company is a branch of Navigators in the US and is ‘A’ rated by S&P. Navigators also own 100% of syndicate 1221 at Lloyd’s which again is ‘A’ rated. The UK business centres around London, but there is an expanding presence in UK and Europe, with the first European office opening in Belgium last year.
So why UK property?
As the Group has grown, new opportunities emerge and Navigators are delighted that recently Steve Snook and his team have agreed to join us to support our growth into specific property areas. Steve exemplifies the experienced insurance professional we seek to attract as he is a recognized leader in his field. His key business partners also recognize this and we are delighted that ‘Commercial Express’ has become Navigators first new business partner.
Where to now?
Navigators have grown successfully by working only in very specific business areas and with a small number of selected business partners. Working with Commercial Express, we look forward to continuing the success enjoyed by both organizations sharing a similar vision. Over the next 5 years we will continue to identify similar opportunities in the UK and continental Europe and are confident that Commercial Express will work with us in doing so.
